Want luscious lips but are afraid of ending up with fish lips? Truth is, you don’t have to go from one extreme to the other. Yes, those “desperate housewives” really WANT to look that way!
If you are bothered by lipstick lines, thin lips, or wrinkles around your mouth, injectable filler may be just the ticket. And you don’t have to fear the “fish”! The trick is to find a physician who understands your goals and has significant experience with lip injections.
The term “filler” is a broad category, which can mean one of several different choices of smooth gels injected directly into the lips. The most common brand names used for lips are Restylane® and Juvederm®. These fillers come in sterile pre-filled syringes of different sizes, so most people start small. And, the filler actually has numbing agent mixed with it to take the edge off–probably not even as bad as a visit to the dentist.

Dr. Howard was more understanding and sincere, than other doctors. I didn’t feel like ‘just another person’. Very comforting.A.B.
Immediate swelling of the lips is pretty normal (no need to freak out), but will definitely not be the final look. In a few days, after the swelling goes down, you will be able to see a gentle subtle difference in the fullness of your lips—your lipstick will go on smoother and you will have pucker you’ve never had! The filler typically lasts 9-12 months, but it’s okay if you just want to add more before that time. Once you are comfortable with how it works, you can branch out to greater fullness as desired.
Other Treatment Areas
The same fillers work great for other areas too, such as frown lines, corners of mouth, grooves under lower lids, folds from nose to the corners of the mouth, and even added volume to apples of cheeks and chin!
